Compare the2025 Hyundai Elantra NVS 2025 Cadillac CT4-V

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Hyundai Elantra N are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Cadillac CT4-V doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Elantra N and CT4-V have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Elantra N has Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The CT4-V’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

The Elantra N’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The CT4-V doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Elantra N and the CT4-V have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Hyundai Elantra N (Built after October 2024) has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2025 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The CT4-V has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2025.

The Elantra N comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The CT4-V’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Hyundai’s powertrain warranty covers the Elantra N 4 years and 30,000 miles longer than Cadillac covers the CT4-V. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the CT4-V ends after only 6 years or 70,000 miles.

The Elantra N’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the CT4-V’s (7 vs. 6 years).

Hyundai pays for scheduled maintenance on the Elantra N for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Hyundai will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the CT4-V.

There are over 50 percent more Hyundai dealers than there are Cadillac dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Elantra N’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Hyundai vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Hyundai third in initial quality, above the industry average. With 52 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is ranked 23rd, below the industry average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Hyundai vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Hyundai 11 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The Elantra N has a standard locking fuel door. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the CT4-V. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The Elantra N offers an optional sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The CT4-V doesn’t offer an SMG.

For better traction, the Elantra N has larger tires than the CT4-V (245/35R19 vs. 235/40R18).

The Elantra N’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the CT4-V’s standard 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Elantra N has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the CT4-V.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Elantra N is 2 inches wider in the front and 1.1 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the CT4-V.

The Elantra N handles at .97 G’s, while the CT4-V AWD pulls only .87 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Elantra N executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.1 seconds quicker than the CT4-V (24.3 seconds @ .8 average G’s vs. 25.4 seconds @ .73 average G’s).

The Hyundai Elantra N may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 450 to 600 pounds less than the Cadillac CT4-V.

To minimize engine movement during hard acceleration and transmission shifts, the Elantra N has solid engine mounts. The CT4-V uses conventional rubber.

As tested by Car and Driver while under full throttle, the interior of the Elantra N is quieter than the CT4-V Blackwing (79 vs. 86 dB).

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Elantra N a Mid-size car, while the CT4-V is rated a Compact.

The Elantra N has 9.4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the CT4-V (99.4 vs. 90).

The Elantra N has 2.3 inches more front headroom, .4 inches more front hip room, 1.3 inches more front shoulder room, .8 inches more rear headroom, 4.6 inches more rear legroom and 1.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the CT4-V.

The Elantra N has a much larger trunk than the CT4-V (14.2 vs. 10.7 cubic feet).

A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the Elantra N easier. The Elantra N’s trunk lift-over height is 28.6 inches, while the CT4-V’s liftover is 30 inches.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Elantra N’s trunk can be opened just by waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The CT4-V doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

A group of representative automotive journalists from North America selected the Elantra as the 2021 North American Car of the Year. The CT4-V has never been chosen.

The Hyundai Elantra outsold the Cadillac CT4 by over 20 to one during 2024.
